As the saying goes that the best camera you can use is the camera you have with you. Therefore I suspect that for many of us, for much of the time this will be our smartphones.
With advancements in technology these tools provide the capability to capture some wonderful images.
This group is for those who wish to improve their skills in using their smartphone cameras, and for those who wish to share their images and expertise with other users.

Lazy image really as it was taken from our cabin on a recent cruise we went on. But I just felt it showed the business of the port of Malaga.
Definitely not a prize winning image but the detail is all there from such a small sensor.
Well I should have read the criteria for the Smartphone Challenge more carefully as I initially missed the very important bit about the images being taken "in a week during March 2025" and "within walking distance of my home".
I wanted a fun entry so I set to work on editing an image I took a year ago in a hotel lift with the express intention of giving the impression my phone took a selfie of itself.
My wife and I were returning to our room after breakfast and she was completely baffled and somewhat resistant when I asked her to stand close together on the right of the lift (as seen in the photo) whilst I held the phone with an extended arm to take a selfie in the lift full of mirrors with reflections appearing to go off into infinity.
In the edit I mirrored some areas on the left of shot onto the right hand side to mask two people looking ridiculous huddled together and not looking very comfortable in the process.
Anyway having put a lot of effort into this image I thought I would share it on this forum... hopefully for your amusement at my folly!
I gave it the title "Taking a selfie to the next level".
Dont forget that we are holding our first Smartphone Challenge on 8th April. The theme is to take 3 images for display to the club within an area that you are able to walk to from your home. It is an open category so anything will be accepted, so get out and see what interesting images you can come up with.
At the end of the evening the all members present will have a chance to choose their favourite image - and who knows there may be a little presentation for the favourite.
